Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer (2021)
excellent docuseries
I think one of things that sets this series apart form typical crime stories is it tells the truth about how 'journalists' and politicians (in this case Diane Feinstein) get in the way of stopping killers for their own benefit.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
even worse than i had been told
I have enjoyed every previous Star Trek series and was looking forward to this when it came out. At the time i herard so many bad reviews that i actually put off watching it. I decided to watch it now and am half way thru season one and it is even worse than i imagined. The characters have no personalities whatsoever and the stories never delve beyond the worse aspects of adventure genre...when they do attempt to do a story it basically retcons the entire star trek universe with an unbelievably silly warp drive powered by mushrooms spores and a bigfoot like character.....yes it is that awful.
The Division: Agent Origins (2016)
The America of Democrats went dreamscapes
The America of Democrats went dreams visulazed on screen.
Absentia (2017)
It's ok
Ok ..there are lots of plot holes and ridiculous scenarios. But the show is pretty entertaining and does keep your attention. By the 3rd season it truly jumps the shark.
Alta mar (2019)
Awful...just awful
Honestly, if you think the mystery of a Scooby Doo episode is too complex, the drama of a Love Boat episode is too poignant, the 'who done it' of a Murder She Wrote episode too creative and the writing of a soap opera too literate this show is for you.
On the bright side it was my netflix 'fall asleep' show for weeks.
Edit...after seeing the first 2 seasons you may think you have seen the depths of stupidity....oh no... the 3rd season ventures to levels of idiocy most people would never dare attempt.
Marcella (2016)
The first two seasons were pretty good but...
The first two seasons were pretty good but the 3rd season is an absolute disjointed train wreck.
Dead to Me (2019)
It has its moments
Feminism 101 - wealthy white women are not responsible for their actions.
But gotta admit..its still kinda funny at times.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Star Trek Cringe
I wanted so bad to like it but alas the story is so cringe and boring. It was fun seeing some of the old characters but ultimetly it was despressing seeing this abomination of a series did to them. There was one episode i liked...it focused mostly on seven of nine but the series turned Picard into a weak simp ..nay the entire Star Trek universe was turned into a simpish excuse to prop up ubiquitous hollywood woke priorities rather than create an adventure worthy of the name.
Silent Witness (1996)
Quincy without the personality
Imagine all the silliness of Quincy without any of the personality. Also, the stories are cardboard and predictable and it's so unrealistic in the way she does her job....just like Quincy but without any of the personality that allowed you to suspend belief a little bit. It is also rather comedic that the main character ..who could only charitably be called old, frumpy and grumpy.... has a new high status boyfriend on the hook every few episodes. Now that really requires a suspension of belief.
Edit..it does get much better as the series progresses and the original main character leaves the show.
The Pale Horse (2020)
What did i just watch?
Incoherent, boring, poorly written, poorly directed and edited. What the hell was the plot?..did i mention incoherent?
White Lines (2020)
It has its positives
Some good nudity, damn good scenery and some pretty damn funny parts....but thats about it.
If you still find interesting the ubiqutous 21st century trope of narcissitic mentally unstable women portrayed as strong, independent and brave you may even like the characters.
Bottom line.... after 10 episodes you won't care who killed Axel but you may well wish you had ...and his sister too....and all the rest of the them for that matter.
Oh, and the end is pure melodramatic cringfest tripe.
La trêve (2016)
Sorry....it's ridiculous
I suppose if soap operas with over acting and melodrama masquerading as intensity and plot twists for the sake of plot twists and no actual logical progression of story line is your thing you might like it.
After 10 episodes its almost as if they just got tired and a writer said "ok we need to have someone be the killer. who should we randomly pick?'.
Blue Bloods (2010)
Ocassionally good
The stories are occasionallyok and it is better than the PC woke garbage that typically dominates network tv...but it so often falls down the rabbit hole of cringe and hallmark channel level of sap that its hard to take seriously at times.
But the real issue is the need to suspend belief over the simplistic, random, amazingly coincindental and all too convenient plot devices employed to solve the crimes or magically fix adversity.
In addition it also creates comic book like characters and simply assigns negative simple minded attributes to them and trys to define 'bad guys' that way. Also, the religous mumbo is just comically silly at times. The teenage daughter character has to be one of worst written and poorly acted characters in television history.
Doctor Foster (2015)
In praise of sociopathic women
I will admit it has a 'cant take your eye off the trainwreck' addictive quality but the message that a sociopathic woman is automatically the aggreved party simply because shes a woman is nausiating and overbearing. If everything were exactly the same but the roles were simply reversed and the Gemma character was the man he would be in jail and the wife would be considered strong and brave for escaping the chains of a destructive abusive spouse and rescuing her child fron his clutches but in this show the sociopath is presented as the victim simply because she's a woman.
Season 2 is more of the same only without the benefit of even being interesting.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Fantastic
From start to finish and everthing in between this is quuite simply one of the finest shows ever made.
Babylon Berlin (2017)
Its ok
I had high hopes and its pretty good..but it just starts to drag after the first few episodes. It has moments here and there but ultimetely it is just predictable.
As an aside..the english dubbing is really bad.
Paranoid (2016)
It starts out interesting...
...but thats the only good thing i can say. The script is maddeningly silly at time and the forced personal relationships are just childish and become increasingly uninteresting as the show continues. By the 6th or 7th episode you really start to wonder if the writers even have a plan beyond over the top preaching and cookie cutter bad guys bad manipulation straight from central casting. The even worse part is the ridiculous behavior and teenage leval angst on constant display by ALL of the 'good guys. The acting is largely attrocious bordering on soap opera leval overacting but likely the terrible script and direction are larger culprit. All in all this is perhaps the worst series ive ever watched all the way through.
Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak (2020)
I usually really like shows like this...
But this was awful. I was hoping for a show about actual pandemics and scientific analysis of them and the how to fight them and understand them etc etc..but this wasn't that.
Honestly, even calling it a documentary on Pandemics is borderline false advertising.
Okkupert (2015)
I loved the first 2 seasons
...but it totally jumped the shark for season 3. Season 3 is as bad as the first 2 seasons were good
A Little Late with Lilly Singh (2019)
The only joke is calling her a comedien
Another unfunny example of virtue signalling self righteousness and hate masquerading as comedy and insight....in other words modern feminism.
Year Million (2017)
Quite possibly the dumbest show ever made
Not counting daytime television this maybe the dumbest show ever put on television
