Animal (2023)
You haven't seen anything like this before
This movie is really different from whatever you have seen till now.
It gives you little bit of Kabir Singh vibes but everything from the story and characters are so apart. In Kabir Singh, the character's anger becomes the cause of his self destruction whereas here it turns out to be something that contributes towards his journey. To talk about the flaws, it has numerous.
To point out a few:
1. Random biology references that make Ranbir look like some childish psycho who read too much biology and survival.
2. Not treating his family nicely and not controlling his anger. This makes the character more grounded but more often than not it becomes too much, at least in Kabir Singh Shahid's anger felt realisitic.
3. Over the top action sequences that disrupt the story.
4. Less screen time for antagonist.
(I can point out 10 other)
Pros:
1) Fresh product that re-uses some forgotten yet classic movie making recipes and formulae from past classic movies.
2) Each character given a musical shade.
3) Great BGM especially the re-use of ARR in hero's entry scene.
Oppenheimer (2023)
One time watch
The movie is very concentrated you can't miss a minute. At the start, few of the stars and solar pheomenon scenes feel repetitive. The BGM highjacks the scenes though it reduce as the time progresses. Oppenheimer is shown as a perfect man with almost everyone as his friend which is not the case even if you read his Wikipedia page. It doesn't even talk about let alone go in depth about his personal mental hardships, how he became a chain-smokers, etc. Which would have been an amazing plot points. Rami Malek can't blende into the character and his presence is same as any of his previous work except for Bohemian Rhapsody. RDJ is phenomenal actor, no one can tell if he is the same actor who played the Iron Man. Coming back to Wikipedia, even it has more Hindu references to Oppenheimer than this movie. The reference in this movie is intentionally insulting. Even if it is a 3 hour long, it doesn't feel very slow.
Johnny Gaddaar (2007)
One time watch, I mean it
I took the task of watching this movie after reading a comment of a YouTube video that criticized Anhadhun for being underrated and the director's Johnny Gaddar is better than it. I was wrong. Andhadhun has far more gripping screenplay and suspenseful plot than this. I am giving 7 star because it is still enjoyable but the screenplay is very loose and plot is predictable by even a 10 year old child. NNM's acting is okaish and looks fake at some points. Dharmendra tries to fit the character Seshadri into Dharam paji which is annoying but at other places he shines. Rimi Sen did a lot of overacting.
Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022)
Looks like a sequel to SRK's RaOne, only for children
If you are assuming that you will see something out of the world then please don't watch this movie. It is too cringe worthy. Alia kapoor's acting is poor as fails to dwell into the role. Ranbir Kapoor on the other hand lacks the ability to express subtle expressions. Nagarjuna is the MVP of the entire movie. Amitabh sounds like an overconfident joker whose character was written in a hurry though he gets to do some amount of action. The VFX are good considering this as a bollywood movie. It is a humble request to the creators to focus on the 'story'. The love story is irritating and above all unnecessary. When the audience thinks the story is building all of a sudden the focus moves to the love story which doesn't feel natural at all. The fights are below average so much so that the VFX takes away the limelight and we clearly observe the action choreography being the bottleneck here. It doesn't feel like such type of movie took years to finish. Ranbir Kapoor should take more dark roles than playing the superhero or lover boy because there he would have only one expression on his face. And that is the whole problem here, he doesn't know when to or how change his expression. Alia Bhat on other hand needs a serious rethinking of why she choose acting as career. At many places you will feel like she doesn't even know the meaning of what she is speaking.
The Batman (2022)
Woke Batman. Stupid Story. Overacting.
Please don't watch this, rather watch the Batman trilogy 100 times. The plot moves very slowly and is very boring. Story is more like 'year one'. The BGM is annoying and unnecessary. Some words which don't make any sense e.g. 'white privileged', catwoman is lesb (why ? Doesn't help the plot in any way), etc.
Everyone is confused , even the antagonist & protagonists.
The Silence of Swastika (2021)
Eye opening documentary which every Indian should watch
Today's generation is fed with so much news that it becomes hard for them to differentiate between truth and lies. But even hammering of fake news turns into belief. And as we all know history is written by the winners.
This film tries to explore the parts which were intentionally tampered by the so called historians and shows them as raw as possible.
You won't have a single question on the connection between Hitler & Swastik once you watch this to the end.
Vedam (2010)
Most realistic Allu Arjun movie but alas it wasted the potential
There are 5 stories running parallel in this film and all intersect at the climax which looked unnatural at first but is digestible considering the fact that we really don't know what's in store for us in the future. Arjun, Anushka, Manoj, Saranya and Manchu Manoj are the protagonist of these 5 stories.
Story of Saranya looks real and touching. Manchu Manoj lacks character depth, the message in his story could have been delivered in a better way and it feels like no effort was taken to write his story. Manoj Bajpayee's story is very debatable and fans the fire of hate which at its face value it aims to reduce, basically it looks like some fake story taken from NDTV's prime time (NDTV appears in the end that indicates that some ideologically similar folks tampered the script to suit their political agenda). Anushka does really good to make audience relate with the situation faced by people stuck in her character's profession. Arjun's story is very beautifully written and occupies the most screen time among others. It shows transition of a wandering young boy diseased with materialism of the world to a man who breaths reality.
I would put it at 2nd place in the list of best Allu Arjun movies, just after Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. This movie is way ahead of its time and I am sure if some debatable elements were improved then it could have been even better.
Laxmii (2020)
Why Akshay Why ?
This film does one thing for the best, to show real face of pseudo-secularism in bollywood to such extent that even a 5 year old's mind will get f*d up. Creators think they can show anything to audience and they will digest it, even bag it in their subconscious mind. Matlab kuch bhi !
Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018)
Must watch for every Indian
It looks heavily inspired from Marvel's Daredevil. Every Indian can relate to the corrupt Police officers & Politicians shown as they are depicted in the most accurate way. This is really a dramatic shift from bhaijaan type movies and Indian audience should accept the change.
Enemy (2013)
Not everyone's piece of cake
Those who rated this movie low actually didn't understand the hidden meaning. It's story telling is similar to Donny Darko but the main theme is difficult to grasp. Watch Chris Stuckmann's 'Enemy ending explained' video on YouTube to fully understand what a masterpiece it is.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Most surprising MCU movie so far !!
Just when you question "Is the movie over now?" you get hit back with amazing plot twists. It's like Game of Thrones Season 8 which had very less connection to the novels, here Marvel comics but unlike GOT Season 8 which underperformed compared to other seasons adapted from novel, this movie shines brighter than many Spiderman comic storylines. Writer & Director has done a really impressive job. There is a bit of contrast between first and the second half but it's intentional. Finally, we got to Jake Gyllenhaal in MCU and his performance as Mysterio was really amazing, even better than the comics.
