Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022)
An entertaining commentary on Gen Z
Bodies Bodies Bodies plays over the course of a night and circles around a group of friends that begin to pick each other apart when they decide to play a party game, which reveals how they truly feel about one another. All this even before the film turns into a mystery slasher of sorts.
Although we have seen many movies with a similar setup and characters, Bodies Bodies Bodies manages to stand out by tackling the subject manner in a unique way. The characters are mostly all a bunch of tiktok using, drug consuming narcissists riding on the digital, surface-level wave of the 21st century. However, instead of trying too heard to make us root for the characters (a trap many films in the same category tend to fall into), the film is self aware enough to take a step back and allows us to observe the obsurdity of the situation and thereby comment on our current society, which makes for a very entertaining watch.
Without getting into spoilers... even though I saw the the twist coming, I wasn't disappointed, as it put the events into logical context and brought home the message on modern youth that the film was trying to achieve.
