Skinwalkers (2006)

Great designs, decent story
10 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
As a pretty huge Stan Winston fan, I was expecting a lot from this movie, costume wise. I wasn't all that interested in the story, but I found myself captivated. Elias Kotas has come a long way since his Kasey Jones days (not that he wasn't a totally badass in that masterpiece!) I liked the werewolf design I'll admit at first I thought it was a bit teen-wolfy with the look, but then I saw that the outfits were really cool. Each actor's was a little different to suit their look. They did look fierce, but they were also fun which I thought was cool. The Grandma wielding a huge hand gun pretty much cracked me up… I found myself humming "Grannies got a Gun" haha.. Anyway the movie itself was decent. It had an OK plot, some pretty cool action scenes an attractive cast of ladies with a few racy bits. I was satisfied. It's a good summer flick. Fun, a little scary, and overall entertaining. I thought Stan Winston did a great job. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. Oh yeah, and the acting for the most part was good. There was one guy that was pretty lame, but Jason Behr and the other main people were good. So better watch out for the next full-moon!!! A skinwalker might be lurking in your woods!!!

substance
6 July 2007
I really liked this film, I went into thinking it was going to be an off beat comedy with no real substance. Surprisingly it was not only a comedy it actually had a plot and significant character ark. I think that is what really separates it from Napoleon Dynamite which also explores outsiders. In this film the characters grow and recognize things about themselves. The humor is still very much there and the actors do a great job with their characters. There is also some really cool cinematography and animation in the film that was an unexpected bonus. The scenery was really amazing it made me want to go to New Zealand! I would highly recommend this film. It was really entertaining for me and I really liked the accents!

laugh out loud
18 June 2007
This movie was surprisingly good. I didn't really like the 40 year old virgin, but I thought this movie was really good. I was laughing out loud. It was a shock how well Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl hit it off. They had really good chemistry; they seemed really natural together. I liked Seth's crew of misfits I thought they were really funny. Paul Rudd was amazing as per usual. Some of it was a little bit unbelievable, I thought the pregnant belly and the hospital were really unrealistic. The Las Vegas trip was priceless the part with the chairs had me rolling in the isle. I would highly recommend seeing this one. It's not sophisticated humor, but it's really entertaining. I'm probably going to add this one to my collection when it comes out.

rent it

Warning: Spoilers
I think this was an alright movie. I was not going into expecting to see something so dramatic. Sexual abuse is always a tricky subject. I think that The acting was pretty good, but the script was lacking a little, so the character development made it hard to get attached to the characters. The Mormon thing was funny. I think Lohan dis a good job creating a really uncomfortable atmosphere. I would have liked to seen more of a resolution between the daughters and the mother's. I thought the drinking business was a little much. I thought it was an alright film. It was entertaining, but I wouldn't go see it in the theaters. Maybe rent it if you want to see it. I don't think it's worth it to watch it in the the theaters.

goo not great
25 February 2007
so the doll on the poster was a symbol for childhood, very clever. I think this film was fairly good. I liked the use of the setting as a character and I think the premise was cool. I wish they would have done a little bit more with the fact that the main character was a film producer. It seemed like an unnecessary detail. Also, I could have done with out the naked wife. I think it's strengths were the way it was shot it was dreamlike,nightmare-like state. The colors look great. I think the acting was good. I liked the sparse cast, the story was interesting enough to keep me watching. I thought there was a good amount of suspense. I like this film, I think with a little clearer storyline it could have been great.
