Unfrosted (2024)
Better writing would have helped!
This movie had a lot of funny dialogue and actors, but it was very uneven; going from funny to stupid, often in the same scene. With all the talent and money that must have been spent on this movie, you would have thought they could have done a much better job. The best parts were aimed at people who grew up in the sixties and remembered those cereals and TV commercials aimed at kids especially on Saturday mornings, and color TV was just becoming a big deal. I don't know what Jerry Seinfeld's purpose was with this project. It was nice to see Melissa McCarthy in a movie in which she rose slightly above the material she had been given and she even improved it a little bit.
The Marvels (2023)
Good movie for TV
This was a clever and enjoyable movie, but it should have been on Disney+ instead of being released to the theaters. It followed along Disney+ other series such as Ms. Marvel. If you went to the theater to see this film without first watching the TV shows, The Marvels wouldn't have made much sense, so that was probably why people didn't like it. The solution to the lack of escape pods was clever and very funny. The scene they showed during the credits made it seem as though they had thought of the next film or TV show. I wonder if the someone will go ahead and make a sequel? If they do, I will watch it!
Annika (2021)
Needs More Intelligent Writing!
Annika is quirky with the main character talking directly to the audience, and I think Nicola Walker is an excellent actor, but this show needs better writing! Foot chases in almost every episode; Annika falling into bed with her daughter's therapist, and Annika turning her back on an obviously violent and agitated murder suspect! All this makes these police detectives look really foolish, and it also makes this show much less believable. Maybe season two will be better thought out and written. I hope so!
L.A.'s Finest (2019)
Unwatchable!
I generally enjoy over-the-top, action, adventure, buddy-type TV shows and movies, but this show is unwatchable! It is a shame that so much money and talent was wasted on such bad writing and production!
Shaun the Sheep: Adventures from Mossy Bottom (2020)
More Shaun, Please!
The movies were nice but I have missed the Shaun the Sheep TV show. My only problem with the Netflix series is there should be more episodes!
Halloween (2018)
Why Bother Making This Movie?
This movie should have been a lot better than it was! It suffered from a mediocre script, so-so acting, and directing. The first movie 40 years ago was so superior in all of these factors on a much smaller budget. This just shows once again that just throwing money at a movie doesn't guarantee a high quality result!
Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
Bad Version!
Kenneth Branagh needs to find something else to do. His was a bad version of a good Christie story, and a terrible Poirot! Read the book or watch the 1974 movie instead. Don't waste your time with this version!
Hooten & the Lady (2016)
Really bad show!
I looked on the IMDb to find out what rating this show got from other viewers before I watched the first episode. I was encouraged by the 7.3 rating. This show was a big disappointment! The writing, and overall storytelling were lackluster and characters were one-dimensional and totally unlikable! I will not be watching the rest of this first season and hope they don't do a second season!
The Dresden Files (2007)
I Love The Dresden Files
I have read all of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files novels and have watched every TV episode. I love both. SciFi could not possibly do the TV series exactly like the books, but they kept the heart and character of the books. Harry is a powerful wizard who has chosen to make a living helping others using his magical skills in both the books and the show.
The setting, story lines, characters, dialog, and acting are all right on the money. Paul Blackthorne is in almost every way the Harry of the books. Bob in the books is only a spirit in a skull. Terrance Mann as Bob on the show is a wonderful addition to the stories. I have agreed with almost all the changes they have made to Harry's world on the TV show from the books. I think that too many people who are ardent fans of the novels have not given the TV show the benefit of the doubt.
I sincerely hope that not only does SciFi continue The Dresden Files for a second season and beyond, but increase the amount of episodes per season to at least 20.
