Once again SRK proves Its all about HIM!!!!!!
23 December 2008
Another Yash Raj outing with our Very Own King Khan , so My expectations were generally high for this one and I wasn't disappointed after watching it on big screen. This ain't our typical Love story Its starts after Marriage of the lead pair , so its different stuff this time from YRF camp which makes it a pleasant watch.I wont Go very detailed into the story though it had its share of flaws , but then again we are not here to look for logic . SRK was as his usual , though i found him more convincing in his Mr.Surinder Suri avatar. New find Anushka Sharma looks adorable and stands tall against an artist like SRK. Vinay Pathak As the side Fiddle to SRK also plays his part well. Music was not at par with other YR films , But U can easily Pick out "Haule Haule" as the best of the lot. Also The picturization of the song "Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte" which is actually an intended spoof is superb , watching it on big screen will do full justice to the hard work being put in that song. All n all a Decent Time Pass Movie Consisting Of Comdey , romance and drama (Typical Bollywood stuff)Though Presented with a new style.

Another example of the Fact that SRK still rules Bollywood
11 November 2007
I'm Not a big SRK fan yet there was something which made me see OSO, well I'm glad in the end the movie was a joyful ride with loads of popcorn fun. Indian cinema has come of age and we are seeing more meaningful movies being made these days, But OSO follows the usual tried and tested masala formula which eventually works .

The movie is based on the theme of reincarnation which has been attempted many times before , but if you are a SRK and Farah Khan you have the liberty to do it again and get away with it.In this case get loads of cash and awards for it.I would suggest the viewers not to look for any logic i the movie but simply enjoy what is served to them bcoz it was never meant to satisfy the critics instead its made for the masses and we belong to the same category. Shahrukh excels as 'OM' and proves his versatility once again though he still has to work on emotional scenes.he does a difficult job of portraying two characters belonging to two different time frames. Deepika Padukone couldn't ask for a better film for her debut she looks gorgeous and enacts her part well.Shreyas Talpade plays Om's friend hes okay but its difficult to imagine him as a 60 yr old guy and still being called 'pappu' LOL.Kiron Kher as a mother is good as always. The real surprise is Arjun Rampal Hes tremendous in a villainous role , why not hes getting more good projects. U are gonna hate(Love) this Guy.

The music is Great like most SRK movies. The songs that stand out are dard-e-disco and deewaangi-deewaangi( which has almost half of the bollywood industry). The jokes successfully make u giggle and sometime can make u burst into laughter if u cannot control urself. Farah knows the taste of audience she sticks with that though sometimes u feel that movie is getting too melo-dramatic.But this doesn't affect the overall content. She has really worked hard to achieve that 70's style look for the movie.

The movie is expected to bring huge profit for its producers and distributors.Go catch it with a pack of popcorn and please leave your brains out before entering the theater( U will enjoy more in this way).

Why not more people make moves like thisthis is AWWWWEEESOMME MAAMOO
3 September 2006
"Lage Raho Munnabhai" , the second film in the Munnabhai series and perhaps the most eagerly awaited movie of the year at least for the people who like meaningful cinema. This one was supposed to be a sequel but it has a story of its own and its refreshingly original and no connection with the first movie except the Munnabhai and circuit and their gang. I saw the movie and was completely spellbound by it.I was glued to the screen for the entire duration and enjoyed every bit of bit.To call this movie a comedy would be wrong this one is a mix bag you've got comedy, romance , emotions (and yes lots of them) and a beautiful script to tag along.

The entire cast is simply lovable and all have acted their part to the book. Sanjay Dutt excels in the role of Munna hes is well complemented by ever smiling Arshad Warsi as circuit who surprisingly shows his softer side in some well acted emotional scenes. Vidya Balan looks fresh and acts her part well. Boman Irani as The Punjabi builder is first rate, people get to see the various shades of his character. The supporting cast of elderly persons is also good. Dia Mirza provides glamor to the film in a brief but sweet role. Jimmy Shergill is likable in the scenes where he gets footage.

But the real star of the movie is "RajKumar Hirani" , yes the director of the movie. he has told the story in a very unique manner which appeals to the masses.I wont go into the details as it will spoil the fun but this man is a class apart, he has handled each and every scene with perfection be it comedy , emotional or drama brilliantly.

Music is perhaps the only weak point of this film. Though the songs blend well with the story but no songs stands out to be a chart buster. The picturisation of the songs is beautiful and visually appealing.

On the whole "lage raho munnabhai" is an excellent movie not to be missed. The movie will tickle your funny bone as well as bring tears to your eyes in some situations. Its unique way of story telling will find praises not only from the masses but from the critics as well. the movie has a surprise package in the character of "mahatma Gandhi" and the actor who's played the part suits the role well

I can't wait for another outing with Munna&Circuit but good things come at a price. The price here is Another Wait Till Then patience rakho "MAAMOO".

Krrish (2006)

The best sci fi bollywood can offer till date
23 June 2006
Well Krrish is the highly awaited sequel to "Koi mil gaya". The wait is finely over.so how does it fare?Does it live up to the hype? well there could be mixed answers to this question.

Its definitely better than the first part. But on the acting point of view it definitely disappoints. the film solely relies on Hrithik Roshan's shoulders and he delivers but this is certainly not his best as an actor though as krrish i cannot think of anybody else but him playing the role , all the other characters are just passable which include the highly talented "Rekha" who looks uncomfortable in the role of a grand mother.Priyanka Chopra looks good and is camera friendly though not much of the histrionics on her part.

The story is quite predictable with hardly any twists. The first half of the film is a mediocre boy meet girl romance with tracing the origins of krishna aka krrish. the music is alright though not as good as rajesh roshan's previous attempts. its only in the second half that film picks up and the special effects come into play. These special effects are good according to bollywood standards. Like any other superhero movie it does have a villain in Naseeruddin Shah.he has played roles as a villain like in "Mohra" before but this time hes strictly okay.

The film has high production values the director has handled the product well. But overall he's confused whether to churn out an out and out sci fi flick or a mix of all genres. The film was Promoted as a Super hero movie though its more of a romantic-super hero type. That thing could be due to the budget constraints it was not made as solely as a science fiction/super hero movie. The special effects look a mix of "matrix" ,"crouching tiger hidden dragon" and other action flicks . On the whole krrish traces the origins of our very own desi super hero. it could be the first in the series with more to come. I hope the sequel will be more of a super hero type with more CGI and special effects romped in.

Go see krrish if you are a Hrithik Fan. you will not be disappointed.

all an all a popcorn flick with a difference.

Fanaa (2006)

forget laila- majnu, heer-ranjha "Rehan -Zooni are here the new love icons"
28 May 2006
if you are expecting "Fanna" to be a traditional yash raj banner film. then you are wrong.Fanna is a love story but with a difference. The yash raj banner had previously attempted different films other than romance like Dhoom and have succeeded. However Fanna is a love story though its got a darker side to it. the acting of the lead actors is superb. kajol never looked more beautiful before. Aamir is in top form.his character has got many shades and he handles them all really well. The first half of the film is traditional candy floss though there is a twist towards the end of it.the film has running length of around 3 hrs in some portions the pace is very slow but overall it is well handled. The director Kunal kohli has done a wonderful job he has given some great sequences. the scene between aamir and kajol towards the end is superb. the child actor has also done a good job. music is good soothing to ears and blends welll with the film. i wont divulge any of the story.

to sum up i can say "aamir & kajol create magic on screen" wonder why weren't they paired before. i give 7.5/10 go watch it.
