Official Secrets (2019)
Cuts through the complexities enabling an understanding
I recommend the movie Official Secrets. It cuts through the complexities of the issue and clearly describes the corruptness of politics that in this instance caused the loss of more than a million lives and countless injuries without penalty for the governmental perpetrators.
Requiem (2018)
Very Poor
Slow, boring and not the least bit engaging. The storyline is the same regurgitated rubbish as so many in this genre. There is a lot to learn from the European series that have taken over the quality television in this and related genres.
Britannia: Woe to the Vanquished (2017)
What a disaster!
Absolute trash in every respect that I can think of, but especially the ridiculous diction and dialects, the wooden and detached acting, the ludicrous circumventing of true history, the boring mysticism and smoke blowing, and the gratuitous and unfunny toilet humour. What a disaster!
Dark World (2008)
Absolute trash
This film is absolute trash and proceeds to become even worse towards the, very protracted, end!
The plot is confused and laboured, the actors have a couldn't care less attitude (maybe they were paid in advance - bad move, or knew they weren't going to get paid), and the sets were featureless, boring and cheap.
I fell asleep twice and actually decided to not bother with the last 5 minutes as I assumed the actors would have fallen asleep themselves by then. More unrecoverable life time wasted!
If you must watch it, then take it to the bedroom and forget the sleeping pills for once. But maybe you'll need an antidepressant instead!
Sometimes it's good if celluloid degrades.
The Man from Earth (2007)
Educational
A seriously engaging film with a small twist at the end. Lots of small inputs of educational facts and figures but stay alert as they come quick and fast. I thought the mix of characters was excellent and the tale outstanding, but that is down to Bixby the writer. The acting was a little wooden but the story-line was fast enough (after a slightly slow start) to save dwelling on this. A sci-fi film with absolutely no special effects, relying solely on the story and a room-full of actors.
A highly recommended film that needs some concentration and thought to fully appreciate, and that might even cause a tear if you become fully immersed. A nice change from the usual no-brainer special effects charged tear-aways.
