Ahsoka (2023)
A mixed bag
It's decent. Better than Obiwan but not at the level of Mando seasons 1&2.
Ironically, I found the episode directed by Filoni to be the worst. The opening 5-7 mins of the first episode is diabolically poor / cringeworthy.
There are some excellent parts, especially when focusing on Ashoka and/or Baylan. But the overall acting of the rest of the cast I find quite wooden at times and the dialogue not organic enough.
My biggest issue is the fight scenes. I appreciate that not everything has to "feel" like we have come to expect Star Wars to, but the fight choreography is just slow/clunky and it doesn't feel like Jedis are really fighting.
That said, it is a show that is worth watching and no doubt will improve once characters like Ezra and Thrawn are in the mix. I just feel that it's underwhelming for what it's capable of.
Ancient Civilizations (2017)
Three good episodes followed by garbage
The first few episodes I genuinely enjoyed and found enlightening. There was one or two crazy conspiracy theories embedded in there but the content wasn't too bad overall so I didn't mind. The show begins to get carried away with itself in the latter half of the season and by season 2 it's just mainly conspiracy theories that stretch the limits of my suspended disbelief too far. The show stops being about empirical facts or historical evidence and instead becomes about alien intervention in human origins and secret portals to other universes. Something even the flat-earthers would struggle to believe.
