Office Orphan
A modern corporate environment may seem an unlikely home for a Dickensian orphan. From Loonatik and Drinks comes a pitch black comedy where the 1800s meets the 21st century to show just how far a company is prepared to go to save pennies in this harsh economic climate.
The recent recession has affected everyone. Despite their funky media jobs, even the working lives of Finlay and Jeff have been subject to financial scrutiny. After being introduced to Jeff’s rather unorthodox new personal assistant while working late one night, they end up wrangling over the ethics of sensible economising in the workplace. Brilliantly played by comedy duo Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon and with a show stopping performance by Louis Greatorex as Oliver, ‘The Office Orphan’ is a witty and poignant comment on the world of business today and the exaggerated lengths companies will go to shave their resourcing costs.
Written by Julie Bower and directed by David Lilley ‘The Office Orphan’ was shot on a small budget using the latest HD Canon 550d camera. It is a departure for Loonatik and Drinks, who are more known for producing darker, more serious films, but further testament of the quality and range of work being produced by the team.
