Review of Big Daddy

Big Daddy (1999)
Worst movie of 1999!
7 November 2000
Sure, all Adam Sandler movies are alike! Just like this one, he's playing Sonny Koufax, a crude loser and not to mention a slacker who doesn't realize yet that the world is passing him by. In this movie, he adopts an orphaned five-year-old (played by twins Cole and Dylan Sprouse) after he meets Layla (Joey Lauren Adams) a girl he fell in love with to show he can be responsible and believes it's a sure fire way to win her affections. That plot formula has been totally underused and in this movie, done way over the top! Adam Sandler is one of those actors who only know who to play one role, a lazy slacker/loser!

I don't know what posessed me or other people who ended up disliking this movie like I did to go see it to begin with! This movie was totally ribald and vulgar. I also believe it teaches kids who see this movie to do whatever they want no matter how offensive it may seem to other people because the kid has an idiotic parent/guardian who will never punish them! Heck, the kid even uses profane language, and that's supposed to be funny?! Talk about a bad influence!

As it turns out, when this movie was first released, it became the most overrated movie of last summer! Sad, isn't it? And of course, loser Sonny Koufax triumphs in the end. Boring! I also feel sorry for the twins who played the little boy and Joey Lauren Adams for particiapting in this ridiculous excuse of a movie! My best advice is don't waste your money or time with this pathetic mindless dribble of a movie. RUN, don't walk away from Big Daddy!
