meaningless philoso-psycho babble with inane plot and lifeless "acting"
16 March 2005
This movie was pretentious and an awful waste of time (right up there with Mulholland Drive and Memento). . . . and actually painful to watch through to the end (though I stuck with it as I did for Cold Mountain, Mulholland Drive and The Terminal, the last 3 clunkers I endured, waiting for some redemption in the climax that never came). Huckabees was composed almost entirely of meaningless characters speaking psycho-babble and attemptng pseuodo-philosophical "humor". The storyline was inane and featured some of the most tiresome and lifeless "acting" (other than Wohlberg) I've seen in a long while and was a tedious attempt to achieve something "meaningful". A film should excite you, exalt you, educate you, make you laugh or change your life; this movie does none of the above, and, other than a few chuckles and an occasional moment here and there, I would have fallen asleep from sheer boredom.
