Pop Culture Classics: Ripley's Believe it or Not!

Warning: Spoilers
Ripley's Believe it or Not! (1982-1986) was a show about the strange and weird. Since I was an oddity phile for many years, I loved this show growing up. The heavy breathing Jack Palance and several female hostess (including Jack's daughter Holly and Marie Osmond) would take the viewers to parts around the world showing the viewers strange customs and bizarre sights. Between the show and commercials, they would show us a classic strip from Robert L. Ripley displaying one of his many oddities. Jack Palance would always ask us to "Believe it or not"!

After spending most of the seventies in obscurity, this series gave Jack Palance a new career boost. The show was great during the first three seasons. But it ran out of steam as the years went. replacing the female hosts did little to increase the ratings. So after a bright start, the show faded into cancellation.
