Review of Stealth

Stealth (2005)
8/10
Cohen makes up for "xXx"..
14 December 2005
Stealth marks the return of director Cohen's finer abilities. xXx was a woeful attempt to upgrade Bond and it didn't work because after the magnificent The Fast and the Furious, he must have felt too confident. Cohen just assumed he'd be on a winner by casting Diesel again in the leading role and just letting the magic happen on it's own. xXx worked like Malcom X's speech would work on a KKK rally. It tanked. Maybe not in the box office, but in every other possible way.

With Stealth, Cohen has come to remember that in order for his movies to work, he has to do some actual work on them. And thank God for that, because even though Stealth is by no means a good movie in terms of plot development, it does deliver on the one thing it promises on the posters and the trailers: great action. What's refreshing also is that the cast includes some real character actors like Lucas, Foxx and Shepard, who give the yarn some extra credibility.

**** / *****

PS. Stick around after the credits.
