Doesn't Disappoint
23 March 2006
Charlie (Cusack), a mob lawyer, partners up with Vic (Billy Bob) and they steal $2-million from the mob. They plan on leaving town, but the icy cold and rainy Kansas weather holds them in place. And, guess what? The mob knows what happened and they are looking for them both. Oh, oh!

There is one thing I have learned about a John Cusack movie and that is there will be good acting and a good story. More about the acting later. For the most part this doesn't disappoint. Yes, it is slow, but things need to build, you understand. And, with a John Cusack movie I know there will be a few twists I won't see coming, try as I might. I was right. I failed. Figures

The cinematography for an icy Kansas winter night is outstanding. I went looking for my umbrella and another quilt anyway. Great scenes.

The acting overall is very good, but Oliver Platt cannot play a good drunk. I like Platt and think of him in the same sense as Oliver, but he cannot play a good drunk. If he was intended to be the comic relief, someone failed at this aspect. Maybe next time someone should actually get him drunk and hope he remembers his lines. Anyway, this is a mis-step for Oliver Platt and I will get over this soon. I have extremely high regard for Oliver Platt, just not for playing a drunk anymore.

Overall this is enjoyable and doesn't disappoint.
