Really bad. There is a huge difference between true love and obsessed addiction. This must have gone direct to video. I never heard of the movie until today, and I was the right age to love it when it came out. The Atlanta scenes are wasted. The scene at the Varsity was way off. The Atlanta X Houston games were unreal. Until recently, Atlanta has a history of beating the Astro-holes. Houston would never have stood in their way at that point in time. O'Keefe's character is selfish, obsessive, controlling and completely unprofessional. A total loser to let his personal life affect his job performance to that degree. The other users are right about the home run storyline. It would have been a huge story back then. The norm back then was a 30 HR season. Of course players did not grossly abuse steroids back then like the players of today. Back then, a player would have really been breaking the record - it would have warranted non stop hounding from the press. He did not miss that "last" chance at the home run on purpose, he just sucked. Just like this movie.
