For me this movie is big time let down. I found story telling is very weak. I don't know maybe script is very weak. I mean i couldn't believe that the same guy who made 'Dev D' can be made this. I think Gulal is wayward and unstructured. First 30 minutes is great but after that too many multiple sub-plots. What fails is a story that would thread all those sub-plots together sensibly. Abhimanyu Singh (as Ransa) is the most impressive of the cast. Till the time he is on the screen, there is energy and demands attention. For me it's like director attempted another Omkara but failed miserably. There were many technical mistakes which only made it even worse.
