I love Ms. Bates -- I love the show's premise -- I was really looking forward to it. I wanted to like it. But I cannot get beyond the ridiculous scripts. The writers seem to think that to win a case in court, all one has to do is have a cantankerous lady attorney stand up in the court and rant about the lack of justice in the world-- not about the facts of the case. But more to the point, they seem to think that judges would allow this nonsense in a courtroom. Come on, guys -- hire a legal expert to come up with some crafty legal moves (she's supposed to be a smart attorney), or have Ms. Bates resolve the case outside the courtroom through whatever shenanigans she can contrive. But the courtroom dialog is just insulting to our intelligence.
