Moral Courage/Moral Anger
24 January 2014
If EVER there was an episode of a drama series that showed how patriarchy and dogmatic religion co-operate to make the lives of citizens miserable it was this brilliantly written last episode about the judgemental client of Paul Weston; Sunil. So filled with hatred for the freedom his son has taken in choosing a , very intelligent woman as his partner. So full of self pity about the suicide of his true love Malina that he was part guilty of himself. So filled with self righteousness about his "sacred" Indian, dated, morals! I have never been so angry at any character in t.v drama,in all my life !MEN around the world should stop torturing women and minorities with their self hatred. This Sunil character shows what kind of life you get to live if you let invasive, vindictive, judgemental men, who think that God or Allah or any fictitious god for that matter is proving them right in their pathetic actions, come into your life. The writing of all Sunil episodes makes me take my cap off to the writer and writers. As a screenwriter I say to you:"Continue to show this kind of moral courage" It makes up for all the patriarchal series about male violence that HBO puts out, in their relentless longing to show the gritty side of life.In Treatment along with Sex and the City are HBO's GEMS. Any progressive left wing thinker SHOULD have watched this. If you have not already; do so THIS INSTANCE!It will move you,and change you. Many have already been moved, and I hope changed..WATCH THIS!
