Le Fantôme (2016)
4/10
Not an entirely bad approach, but ultimately fails its purpose

Warning: Spoilers
"Le Fantôme" is an 8-minute live action short film in the English language. The director is Jake Scott and the script comes from a trio of writers, which is quite a lot for such a short film. And the sad thing is it still comes very short. It is a case of style over substance. Yes it is kinda nice to look at in terms of cinematography, sets and costumes, but all this stays forgettable if the story is as generic and forgettable as it is here. Of course, it is difficult to get convincing character elaboration into such short time, but still when you have Mads Mikkelsen 8and Barbara Steele) in the cast, I just expect more. I would say it is Mikkelsen's worst, but then again he appeared already in a Rihanna music video. But back to this one here: It is actually a really long car commercial if I am not mistaken. But I felt the references are minimal and not just in terms of the company by which it was made, but especially in terms of car references in general. So yeah, this wasn't a rewarding watch at all. i give it a thumbs-down.
