Fairly forgettable spin-off
29 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
"My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Forgotten Friendship" is a 44-minute American animated short film from 2018, from 1.5 months ago at this point actually, so still really new and fresh. the title already gives away that this one once more takes you into the world of My Little Pony, well sort of, because early on and at the end too the ponies are human female teenage characters. This really confused me as if this was some kind of spin-off, but the transformation lets me think that this was just part of the overall story. So yeah, other than that, I was not interested in anything hee really. Animation was decent, story was fairly forgettable and never manages to make an emotional impact really. Humor was basically non-existent. MLP is for cuteness, not for comedy. The thing I found most distracting here were the voice actors. The main character for example has one who is not bad by definition, but felt way too old for me for the part she provides in here. I personally give this one a thumbs-down, but really chances are good you have seen other Equestria Girls stuff or at least other MLP stuff and judging from how much you like that, yoou can decide for yourself here if you wanna see this very recent installment to the long-running franchise. The approach is just the same as always. My suggestion is to skip the watch here though. But then again I am not really a little MLP fan, even if I am a big fan of animated films and shows. Watch something else instead and I am also not sure if this is the kind of entertainment you would want your daughters to grow up with. Baffled by the high rating for sure, even if I know that MLP has a big almost cult-like following that actually includes more boys and males than you'd expect. That's all, folks.
