FARZAND REVIEW :

When i look at our Marathi History i feel like there are countless stories in there to make countless films but still our makers go for remakes and fresh crap scripts. We make films on society or some incidents but when it comes to making a film on a Personality then Chatrapati Shivaji is the Biggest Subject, the more you make the bigger you make, the less it looks. Farzand is based on One Chapter among the Countless Glorious tales of King Shivaji, of Panhala Fort. Entire script is based on how the journey of conquering Panhala begun and how it ended which was still Enough to make one solid film but somewhere that ordinary vision of director and compromised production value has spoiled the potential Extraordinary product. This script and Rajamouli's vision and i see Farzand as Historical Milestone in Marathi Cinema. Sadly there is only One Rajamouli available and i was expecting too much. Story is predictable as we have already read so many History books but still we want to see those glorious moments on screen, on big canvas so that we can relive those moments and keep them safe in our hardcore memories, and this has not happened here. Strong characterisation of all actors is commendable, every actor looks and literally lives whichever character they have got to portray. Shivaji, Jijau, Kondaji, Naik, Kesar, Tanaji and so many characters have been made look like alive on screen by the actors. Art work of Big sets by Nitin Desai is eye pleasing. Cinematography for the same is Good, all the natural stuff is captured very well by Cameraman. Amitraj's Music is like up and down, half the songs are catchy, half are dead. Though, Lyrics are meaningful. As it is a Historic film some important parts like Action Direction, Make Up, Clothes needs to taken care sensitively and all have been taken care perfectly. Dialogues are Clap Worthy, you get Goosebumps. If i have to blame one person as a failure then it has to be the Director, with this script and big canvas he could have made Bahubali of Marathi Cinema, but failed miserably. Still he deserves appreciation for taking a Huge task, taking a big challenge of living up to expectations of Proudful incident of Panhala Fort, he might have failed because of so much pressure of this Grandure task. I feel pressure even while reviewing film based on Shivaji, so big name it is, then Making a film must be so much of pressure thing. I gotto mention some minuses here, first- the unnecessary filmy and typical execution of scenes, second- loud and irritating Background Music for almost every important scene, third- an ordinary vision for an extraordinary tale, four- the scenes which could have been done so easily and simply are turned difficult, intentionally filmy. Remove these junks and Farzand would have been a much better film. As a Whole Farzand Glorifies the Glorious Tale of Mission Panhala, pleases the Marathi Attitude but does not end as a Memorable film. As a film it may be an Average one but as a tale this one is a must see for Marathas, we gotto admire a great attempt. All proud marathas, Take your childrens along and let them see & acknowledge our Bravery Tale. Rating 2.5/5*
