Dead Shack (2017)
3/10
Even the dead will be cringing from this...
4 August 2018
I stumbled upon "Dead Shack" by mere chance and random luck. I had no idea that the movie existed prior to picking it up. I was lead to believe that it was a zombie movie. And with that in mind, I needed little other persuasion to watch the movie.

"Dead Shack", while it did have zombies in it, was a wide swing and a miss for me. The storyline was so infantile that it bordered on being downright rubbish. I was not entertained, not even in the least way, and I was on the brink of getting up and finding something else to watch several times throughout the ordeal of watching it. Yet I stuck with "Dead Shack" to the end, after all I hopes it would take a turn for the better, as it was sort of a zombie movie. However, it did not do so.

The characters in the movie were one-dimensional characters that had little or no appeal. And it didn't help much to improve on the overall enjoyment of the movie that the characters stumbled through horrible dialogue and quite often made decisions and took actions that would make you cringe. Whether or not that was intention in order to press in a comical appeal to the movie, I can only guess. But it didn't work in my taste.

What did work in favor of "Dead Shack" was the special effects. Mind you, that this is not a CGI or special effects galore, but whatever special effects that was present was nicely made and worked out quite well on the screen.

"Dead Shack" does not make for a memorable or outstanding addition to the zombie genre, and it is very unlikely that I will return to watch the movie ever again, simply because the storyline was so inadequate.
