Review of Othello

Othello (1951)
7/10
interesting, especially when you know the backstory

There's a cobbled together quality here that comes from the necessity of the making of situation (lack of money, filming in different places, changing actors, etc) It shows you that an amazing movie was here had Welles had enough money, but what we have is full of some really striking stuff, even if there are rough edges and soundtrack problems. The blackface is a bit much, but you can forgive it because of the era... Could have been amazing, nearly was through force of will.
