Nature of Love (2020 TV Movie)
5/10
Insincere

I didn't get off to a good start with this movie because in the first scene with Emilie Ullerup, she looked fake and likewise she acted a little fake too. I'm not sure if that scene poisoned the well and therefore it was only in my mind but that insincerity seemed to carry through the movie at least a little. And I don't think it was just in my mind. Add to that the constant Middle Schoolish gossip between Katie and Penny and the whole thing seems even more juvenile. All movies of this type have some of that, but I think they carried it overboard.

Christopher Russell seems to me to be always posing for a shot. I never saw chemistry between them.

The story followed a predictable path for the plot line of a writer sent to do a expose who falls for her subject. Trouble is, I never saw why she would fall for him or he for her. (Other than the fact she thought he's hot.) On the other hand, the story was more than that. City girl learns to love nature is a well used theme, but that part of the story was convincing. You can't help but enjoy the beauty of the setting and that really helped sell that theme.

Side note: Ullerup revealed on Twitter that she was very pregnant during filming. If you watch for it, you can see the covering up for it. She had a body double for wide shots. Many Hallmark stars Tweet during their premieres and sometimes they respond to honest questions or share behind-the-scenes tidbits
