Chicago homicide detectives Prudhome and Hollingsworth are assigned to investigate a murder . A sinister and eerie movie with dismal and gloomy environment , in which the murderer's terrible capacity is graphically demonstrated in the dark and subdued tones characteristic of film noir . It packs a great number of scenes with plenty of gory violence , these frames have been shortened for the US version where went straight to DVD .
