A Christmas Crush (2019 TV Movie)
2/10
Liberal use of FF button on my DVR remote

This movie starts out quirky with a premise that could have potential. It's a farce so exaggeration and silliness are used a lot. It's clearly a fantasy, or put another way, assumes wishes can come true through magical means. I think the potential could have been realized by toning down the extremes of silliness.

I watched about half the movie normally and then finished the movie in about half the running time using the FF button. (I finished it only because I don't think it's fair to review a movie I quit before the end.) So much was truly cringeworthy. Another word is creepy. This movie makes me uncomfortable because it uses a man who is literally stalking an unwilling woman as comedy.

Don't look for any kind of romance plot. It's in there somewhere, but it gets drowned out by the creep factor.

There were a couple of funny lines. There were also a lot of ridiculous ones, but again, it's a farce, so why should we judge it based on any semblance to realism.

I feel sorry for the actors, especially Cindy Sampson and Robin Dunne. There is no acting in the traditional sense in a movie like this. But even before things went off the rails, both of them didn't seem natural even in normal situations. Perhaps that's because they dreaded what was coming.

Makeup on Sampson was horrible, even when it was supposed to be normal.
