Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers ** Vincent D'Onofrio is Bob Howard, the writer, and when he's introduced to Novalyne Price (Rene Zellweger), they kind of hit it off. but then she can't get him to call back. she's a teacher, and resents having to act so prim and proper. it was 1934, after all. Novalyne finally tracks him down, and meets his less than friendly mother. We all know Ann Wedgeworth better as Lana, the older, hot and bothered upstairs neighbor on Three's Company! Bob is a little eccentric, so things are a little awkward at first. and is so so devoted to his sickly mother. we start to see some mental issues, which come and go. he's very tempermental. these days, he would probably be on a mood stabilizer, but i'm not a psychologist. Long story short, it doesn't end well. as we see, Novalyne went on to write this story; it had happened while she was away. who knew the story of the author of Conan the Barbarian? not me. ineresting story, for the history. this was Dan Ireland's first film direction. story by... Novalyne Ellis. same as the female lead in this film!
