Don't expect Robin Williams in a Mel Brooks film and you'll be fine. Yes it's is technically a slasher film, but it's more like a slightly graphic Scary Movie than a Friday the 13th with jokes. The opening is relevant to the movie no matter what some have said.
So you get semi-grizzly murders, not so serious performances from some actors and pretty good ones from others, Al Snow doing a comedic role excellently, and some attractive women. Last but not least, you get the lovely Bree Olson in a shower scene. (That alone was worth the wait to find this movie.)
The bottom line is really simple. I believe it was never intended to be a blockbuster, award winning story. I believe it was made to entertain the audience. And it succeeded. This was worth the time to watch.
