Aftershock (2010)

Family drama but doesn't pull at your heartstrings
25 September 2021
This movie covers the aftermath of the 1976 Tangshan earthquake and follows two families coming to grips with the disaster. I wouldn't class this movie as a disaster movie more of a family drama stretching over a few decades.

It is interesting to watch if you want to see China coming out of the cultural revolution and into its capitalist era in the 90s/00s. There is a bit of propaganda making the PLA look good, but it can easily overlooked if you know its there.

After a good start the movie gets a bit slow in the middle and fails to show key moments in the end.
