Beautifully filmed with gorgeous scenery featuring some familiar Scottish actors; this remake had some great ingredients but somehow falls flat.
There are great moments with some good humour but they are so few and far between.
On the plus side, unlike many modern films and TV shows set in the mid-20th century; the film is realistic in not having any ethnic minorities on show but there is a brief moment of two (drunken ( men dancing together.
I don't know how Eddie Izzard finds so much work because he really can't act; trying to play Captain Mainwaring from Dad's Army here but the in-joke of the Scots making the English look like fools really doesn't work.
