First things first - the physical appearance, mannerisms and voice work by Lily James and Sebastian Stan as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee respectively are truly astounding. In fact I don't recall any better characterisations on film than these, ever! You actually sometimes forget it's not the real Pam and Tommy!
Three episodes in and this is a fun yet somewhat flawed watch. While the Pam and Tommy scenes are both brilliantly executed and fascinating to behold, the sex tape porn-broker-cum-disgruntled carpenter (Seth Rogen) and his surrounding sub-plots become a tad tedious, unbelievable and cringey at times. Personally i believe the extraordinary story of these two infamous superstars of the 90s is much more interesting than the stolen/leaked sex tape angle this Hulu production is primarily trading on.
Minor gripes aside however, I will keep watching because i can see this torrid 8-part tale of the Courtney/Kurt or Brangelina of their day getting really interesting when the initial dream turns into a nightmare. You should too, because this is reality/car crash tv as it should be. Truth is still very much stranger than fiction folks. Rock on Tommy (and Pam). \m/
