For me it is Rohmer's most uncomfortable film to watch. Of course, that was his intention, to impose this "story" on us where there is no comfortable moment. Sabine is an absolutely unbearable being. It seems that Beatrice Romand really wants to perpetuate the mean girl from "Clara's Knee" by turning her here into an equally immature young woman who doesn't seem to understand in any way what world she is in. Furthermore, her friend Clarisse (Arielle Dombasle) fuels her foolish delusions by attempting a combination with her cousin. In all these films, Andre Dusollier seems to me to be in the most suitable role. With a smile always forced on his lips, obviously uncomfortable entered into a stupid game from which he doesn't really know how to get out. Another excellent film by the brilliant Rohmer!
