So, having seen this advertised a few times, I thought it looked not bad & that it might be good, so of course I went to see it not knowing what to expect.
The film sees Inspector Stoppard & Constable Stalker assigned to a murder case when the director of the film version of the play, Mouse Trap is killed. Set in 1953, the 2 try to solve the murder, but have a tough time in doing so. With a list of suspects, they must go through in order to catch the killer before he/she strikes again.
I found the film to be mediocre. In terms of a whodunit, it was ok, but nothing amazing to the caliber to Knives Out, which is far superior & more cleverly written. This film however, was a little bit basic & mundane for a whodunit.
Don't get me wrong, there was moments which made you think. The runtime of 1 hour & 33 minutes was good & the pacing wasn't too bad either. But, the rest of the film didn't grasp my interest enough & I felt the twist at the end was anti-climatic & pretty unconvincing.
Aside from some eye candy & a few funny scenes here & there, not to mention some not bad scenery & visuals, it wasn't amazing & I found the story & motivations of the killer to be mundane.
Overall, it's mediocre for a whodunit, I would check this out via a recommendation. But, don't expect too much, you might enjoy it more than I did, but I for one didn't think it to be amazing or anything to rave about. Go watch Knives Out for a whodunit, it's more cleverly written & actually has a great twist that you'll never see coming & will generally surprise you unlike this.
5/10.
