John Freedland's book..'The Escape Artist' gives a much more detailed account of the escape and the aftermath. I looked forward to this film but was hugely disappointed as it never even really scraped the surface of the story. As a stand alone film it lacked so much and failed to hold my attention...a poor script and strange camera work were the biggest culprits. This could be made into a good mini - series given the right director and team behind it. As others have noted, this was missed opportunity which does not add to the body of historical based films surrounding the genre. Do yourself a favour and read the book!
