Ok romance that dwindles between drama and comedy

BOUNCE is probably one of Ben Affleck's most obscure movies despite here in Italy is aired at least twice a year and here has mostly negative reviews. However, being some sort of half-God who can watch anything I finally saw it last July and, while I didn't found it great, I still liked it for what it is. Now I took this off my chest.

Buddy Amaral (Affleck) is a young single man that works as an advertising executive that has just closed a contract with the airplane company Infinity. Soon Buddy is seen stuck in an airport because of a snow storm and he meets Mimi Prager (Natasha Henstridge) that comes from a conference and TV writer Greg Janello (Tony Goldwyn) that discusses with them about his hard times with his kids and his wife Abby (Gwyneth Paltrow) because his job forces him to stay far from them. Buddy exchanges his tickets with Greg's unknown to the fact that Greg's plane would have a crash that will cause his death, while Buddy will go on a plane that hasn't accidents. Once home, Buddy becomes close to Abby up until the truth comes out, but as you might expect by this point, they'll reconcile and the kids will also accept Buddy as their new dad while he will improve in his job thanks also to Abby.

While the plot might look predictable it worked fine for me because the performances by all the cast members were good and there were some funny moments as well (such as when Abby's dog assaults Buddy after he was throwing him a ball not knowing that THAT's a guard dog who still didn't knew him). Not an oustanding movie of its genre but for what it is, and if you have low expectations, it's just fine.
