Bloody Bites (2020– )

Covering All the Bases
16 December 2022
This series really covers all of the bases in terms of types of horror it will tap into.

That said, the deliveries can be a bit all over the place, with some stories really nailing it for the most part, ultimately creating great immersive experiences, while others end up being so terrible that you can't tell if they were simply designed that way for comedic effect.

Some are on the high end with well crafted scares, sustained tension, polished effects, incredibly creative ideas, good acting, good lighting and sound design, and more. . . . you know, for low-budget films.

Others are campy, low-budget buffoonery containing the usual B-Movie horror tropes: bad acting, bad lighting and sound design, little to no direction, poor ideas, sucky effects, and a general lack of understanding of horror in general.

Mixed into the bag are some shorts that deliver more mystery. Others deliver comedy. Others still are filled with great creativity and artistic flare more than anything else (looking at you Mannequins).

I'd say 80% of the shorts are sure to pique your interest for one reason or another, and will scratch some kind of itch. The other 20% are pure garbage that you may or may not find value in, dependent purely upon how much you enjoy low budget films.

At the least: Good for many chill nights.
