This film is not my favourite with Joel McCrea, not like FORT MASSACRE or GUNS IN THE AFTERNOON, gloomy topics for McCrea. This one is nevertheless an amazing western, superb photography, and what a cast too. Flawless directing but a classic and foreseeable story, no many surprises. Joel McCrea shines, nearly steals the whole movie. One of Charles Marquis Warren's best, he who directed nearly only westerns, except DESERT HELL - which I desperately search since forty years - FLIGHT TO TANGIERS and the surprising horror film BACK FROM THE DEAD. The director's movies are rather easy to purchase and find and you are rarely deceived.
