Bank of Dave (2023)

Comfortable & Charming
5 February 2023
A feel-good film pitting the honest underdog against an establishment built to keep his community down. All the more appealing for being a true(ish) story, the embellished elements added in to help the plot follow a standard film structure are easy to pinpoint, but by no means lessen the enjoyment.

Predictable but heart-warming, the North-South divide is lightheartedly poked fun at, with Kinnear flying the flag of the North, resting on the not-unwelcome stereotype of a friendly face to all. A romantic arc to keep things moving along and a few surprising cameos, the story of hope is uplifting in it's face of hardship.

Plenty of charm and familiar faces in the cast, it's good to see the victories of the working man making it onto the big (Netflix-sized) screen.
