Sandy Wexler (2017)
6/10
mix of comedy and serious story.

Adam sandler is wexler, a so-so talent agent in hollywood. It must be a period piece, since we can see tower records in the background. Wexler does not make a good first impression, and has an unusual way of speaking. Almost like a little kid, so people don't take him seriously. But he has a really good eye for undiscovered talent. And one of those young artists is courtney (jennifer hudson got her oscar ten years back for dreamgirls), who performs at six flags. He wants to help her break into the bigtime, but his feelings for her may interfere with letting her grow. And his "training program" for his clients doesn't really help anyone's career. Sandler features lots of standups, snl buddies, hollywood biggies. A hilarious scene at 1:45:00, where kevin james uses wexler as a puppet to negotiate a contract. They needed more scenes like that to juice it up. It's pretty funny. Fun gag with beavis and butthead during the closing credits. Directed by steven brill, who has worked with sandler on tons of projects.
