As a former amateur rock climber, I was doing fine enjoying the first few episodes. Then I got to episode 5: First Ascent. The episode starts out talking about the excitement of getting to participate in a first climb up an uncharted route. The next thing you know, Chris is using a top rope and ascenders to climb the face and use a drill to install permanent anchors. Really? Even he didn't perform an actual first ascent. At least in my climbing experience, half the challenge of climbing is finding suitable anchor points along the route. This is known as a lead climb. Why even bother with anchors then, just do a top rope climb rather than destroy the natural beauty of the rock face. This is definitely more for armchair climbers that have never stepped foot on a rock.
