This is a pathetic show. It focusses on all the superficial elements - silly fashion remarks, jarringly inappropriate slapstick asides, exaggerated emotions, lots of random name-dropping of important-sounding things like "Get me the foreign secretary" and "he's helping us with a contact in Uzbekistan" and "I said to the Pasha...".
It's just so unrealistic. An entire session just focussed on how the photo op with the president will look. Little insight or narrative about the actual events, but all the time spent on random staff interactions and petty points of view.
It's usually a bad signal from a show when the characters are too good looking or dressed too fancily.
Yeesh. I miss Homeland.
