Battle for Terra (I) (2007)
7/10
Nice Enough Forgettable Film
28 September 2023
I'm of the opinion that there are way too many animated films these days and they date back to the Avatar era. I thought that was a good film, although I don't understand why people went all gaga over it. Here we have the classic clash of two alien entities. What's left of Earth (an expeditionary force) and the Terrans, some little wormy creatures with big eyes and a propensity for cuteness. Earth, Mars and Venus and their populations have destroyed all three planets.

The problem is that humans can only breath oxygen. To the Terrans oxygen is poison. The humans are more than repopulators (?). Of course, they are led by G. I. Joe who has no problem destroying a planet full of sentient creatures. One of the humans has been rescued by the native population at one point and so has a connection and a moral sense. About a third of the show is an endless battle between the full force of the Earth's military and the worm people. The ending is cute but a bit much. I imagine that young people enjoyed this. There is a message her, but let's face it, the atmosphere stuff takes away many options, but we find out it didn't have to. It was OK.
