Poor pacing and a very, very loose story bogs this down a bit. But, yes, I do suggest this and think it is good because the characters are actually freaking amazing. At least Kamala and her friends and family. I absolutely love her family and would instantly be adopted by her parents if I could. Kamala herself is a refreshing take on a young superhero. She is pretty similar to Kate from Hawkeye in terms of personality, but the situation she is in is widely different and her relationships are wildly different, so the way she tackles life is fresh and it makes for a really good character study. Individual story beats are really great too. Every flashback I loved.
So yeah it's not perfect and I don't know if it's "the next best thing" like a lot of people think, but it is a nice, refreshing story. Something to kick back and just enjoy.
