This older woman, younger man romance thing has been done so many times where they either break up e.g. Prime or the young man grows up emotionally e.g. How Stella got her groove back
Here the dynamic is a bit different with the balance of power slightly favoring Hayes. But really, Solene looks absolutely gorgeous in this movie so I didn't understand her awkwardness at times. Especially during the swimming pool scene. She covered up her body completely and got jealous over a previous girlfriend.
Why would she care about a few 20 somethings? You would think a stunning gallery owner would have a bit more confidence. And yet she makes an impromptu trip across the country to be with him soon after they met. I didn't understand that. And then wasted 5 years waiting for him?
It was a mishmash of clichés that didn't add up.
Having said that, if you don't read too much into the story, it's mildly entertaining.
