The film takes a personal look at what filmmaker observes to be the death of oral tradition amongst African American families in the south. Through pushing her family's previous generations to tell a story of the social activism of their youth, she hopes to call the current generation of her family and others to continue their parents' and grandparents' the legacy of taking action.
