REARVIEW MIRROR opens with Michael Beck doing a great job of convincing us that he's violent, vicious, and absolutely unhinged. He's also a desperate escaped convict. His name is Jerry Sam Hopps.
Next, we're introduced to Nurse Terry Seton (Lee Remick) and her grumpy, inattentive husband, Roger (Don Galloway). When Roger goes on a business trip, Terry takes their camper out for a spin. Unbeknownst to her, she's going to meet up with Jerry and his newly-acquired, idiot cousin. The two steal a car, unaware that they have an unexpected passenger. A baby, left in the vehicle by the universe's most negligent parents.
It's when the two miscreants stop to unceremoniously dump their extra baggage in the river that Terry crosses their path. Let the hell on Earth begin.
Thankfully, former NYC Police Detective Vince Martino (Tony Musante) is on the case. He's recently arrived in this small town, just in time to do what the local constabulary seem incapable of doing: tracking down a dangerous psychopath.
REARVIEW MIRROR is an excellent made-for-TV thriller. What makes it so powerful is Ms. Remmick's strong, resourceful role, as well as Beck's ability to make his character so incredibly demonic. A nail-biter throughout its running time, with a truly fiery finale...
