- In the film's climax, one of the bad giants chases Sophie in a prolonged and intense scene (with dramatic and suspenseful music) before eventually cornering her. He prepares to eat her but luckily, the BFG saves Sophie in time by blowing a terrible nightmare at the bad giant, causing him to hallucinate and flee the area. (The giant's screams of torment are rather blood-curdling and may be upsetting)
- A giant reaches into a bedroom to grab a child, making Sophie scream in terror.
