A pretty good Greek thriller
gridoon202426 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
A decorated, retired brigadier living in Cyprus is murdered, and his widow invites a brilliant young criminologist to stay in the family home until he finds out who did it. As you'd expect, the family has a lot of skeletons in its closet.

Greece has never been a country famous for its thrillers, but here is an acceptable imitation of "the real thing" (i.e., those made in the US, the UK, or even Italy). The plot is busy enough with red herrings, the direction fairly atmospheric, and the cast pretty solid, with Melpo Zarokosta particularly cute and likable as the criminologist's young female assistant. Worth a look if you can find it (my version was in Greek with English subtitles). **1/2 out of 4.

An Agatha Christie mystery made in Greece
kokkinoskitrinosmple26 December 2023
A very good effort, it contains all the elements of Agatha Christie's trademark recipe, namely a mystery that keeps you guessing - even though the list of suspects is rather limited, it looks like each of them has something to hide - and a tense atmosphere that grabs the viewer's attention and keeps it until the final revelation. There's also a comedic touch, especially in the first part, as Inspector Fox, who is in charge, is bothered by the young and renowned detective Tilemahos Christofis who effortlessly outshines him and eventually solves the case. Add some fine performances by a great cast and you get a movie that any fan of the genre should be able to enjoy..
