TEACH!

Far from didactic Quiet Storm is empowering and inspiring, as well as, instructive (informative). That the exploitation of African people's exists even today, cinema is a great forum for addressing many of its concerns, in which Quiet Storm does so adeptly. The dialogue in Quiet Storm is extremely witty and intelligent. The soundtrack and the references to other songs in this film is GENIUS (...Hip Hop ...Hip Hop). The storyline is replete with historical reflections to inform in the way(s) of subjugation and its progenitor's, colonization and slavery. The Diaspora(Ian) affinities of the Brothers in this film (from the African continent, Caribbean, UK, and USA) speak to their commonalities and necessity for a single global world view and (re)action. Quiet Storm is a watershed moment in contemporary Black Cinema. In summation, to borrow a line from the Last Poets, "It's glorious to die for a cause, and not BECAUSE!"
