Step Nine
tomeekha16 September 2005
Step Nine had a great concept and flowed well especially for a first time director/writer. From what I know the film basically had no budget either so my hat goes off to the cast and crew for making it work. I could see some casting replacements but all of the actors were talented. The film held true to the aspects of going through the steps in alcoholic recovery and how serious of an addiction alcohol can be. Dorothy Spann is a phenomenal actress I have seen her since in numerous theatre productions and this film doesn't come close to revealing how she has grown within her art. My favorite Seven Guitars by August Wilson in which she played Vera was extraordinary. I attended the play in Nashville, Tennessee directed by Barry Scott. Novella is a very strong drama actress and this film wasn't long enough to portray her range. I hope to see her on the A List one day. She has changed her name as well to Novella.
